Eurotherm Seminar #119: Contribution of Thermal Energy Storage Towards Decarbonisation
The AGRI-COOL project is pleased to highlight the upcoming Eurotherm Seminar #119: Contribution of Thermal Energy Storage Towards Decarbonisation, which will take place from 13 to 15 May 2026 at the University of Lleida (UDL), Spain.
Organised by Prof. Luisa F. Cabeza and the GREiA research team at the University of Lleida (WP6: Environmental and social evaluation leader), this international seminar will bring together researchers, engineers and industry practitioners working in the rapidly evolving field of thermal energy storage (TES) and its role in supporting the transition towards low-carbon energy systems.
Seminar focus
The seminar will address recent advances and emerging trends in thermal energy storage, including:
-
Novel thermal energy storage materials
-
Advanced storage concepts and system configurations
-
TES integration in renewable energy systems
-
Applications of TES in buildings and industrial processes
-
Use of advanced methods such as artificial intelligence in TES
-
Social, environmental and educational aspects of thermal energy storage
Contributions will cover theoretical, numerical and experimental approaches, spanning applications from material characterisation to full-scale storage systems.
AGRI-COOL consortium participation
Bahareh Bakhsh Zahmatkesh and Arash Mahdavi from University of Twente will submit abstracts to the seminar, contributing to discussions on how thermal energy storage can support decarbonisation pathways relevant to agriculture, cooling, and integrated energy systems.
Europe’s Corner workshop
As part of the seminar, a dedicated workshop titled “Europe’s Corner: European Research on Thermal Energy Storage” will be held on 13 May 2026 (afternoon).
This session will focus on ongoing European projects like AGRI-COOL, providing a platform to exchange knowledge, identify synergies, and strengthen collaboration across TES research initiatives.
