SUMMARY:Eurotherm Seminar #119: Contribution of Thermal Energy Storage Towards Decarbonisation
DESCRIPTION:The AGRI-COOL project is pleased to highlight the upcoming Eurotherm Seminar #119: Contribution of Thermal Energy Storage Towards Decarbonisation ( https://eurotherm.udl.cat/ ), which will take place from 13 to 15 May 2026 at the University of Lleida (UDL), Spain.\nOrganised by Prof. Luisa F. Cabeza and the GREiA research team at the University of Lleida (WP6: Environmental and social evaluation leader), this international seminar will bring together researchers, engineers and industry practitioners working in the rapidly evolving field of thermal energy storage (TES) and its role in supporting the transition towards low-carbon energy systems.\nSeminar focus\nThe seminar will address recent advances and emerging trends in thermal energy storage, including:\n\n\nNovel thermal energy storage materials\n\n\nAdvanced storage concepts and system configurations\n\n\nTES integration in renewable energy systems\n\n\nApplications of TES in buildings and industrial processes\n\n\nUse of advanced methods such as artificial intelligence in TES\n\n\nSocial, environmental and educational aspects of thermal energy storage\n\n\nContributions will cover theoretical, numerical and experimental approaches, spanning applications from material characterisation to full-scale storage systems.\nAGRI-COOL consortium participation\nBahareh Bakhsh Zahmatkesh and Arash Mahdavi from University of Twente will submit abstracts to the seminar, contributing to discussions on how thermal energy storage can support decarbonisation pathways relevant to agriculture, cooling, and integrated energy systems.\nEurope’s Corner workshop\nAs part of the seminar, a dedicated workshop titled “Europe’s Corner: European Research on Thermal Energy Storage ( https://eurotherm.udl.cat/europes-corner/ )” will be held on 13 May 2026 (afternoon). This session will focus on ongoing European projects like AGRI-COOL, providing a platform to exchange knowledge, identify synergies, and strengthen collaboration across TES research initiatives.\nKey points:\n\n\nParticipation in the workshop is free of charge\n\n\nRegistration is mandatory here ( https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScyRwHYz5Va8Gmkf_HhyX-ykAXGfaX7ftgpZDRHgVDULzzURQ/viewform?pli=1 )\n\n\nWorkshop attendance does not require registration for the full conference\n\n\nParticipants may optionally join the conference dinner on 13 May (additional fee)\n\n\nImportant dates\n\n\nExtended abstract submission deadline: 15 February 2026\n\n\nNotification to authors: 15 March 2026\n\n\nEarly registration deadline: 30 March 2026\n\n\nFurther information and registration\nFor full programme details, registration, accommodation information and updates on confirmed projects for the Europe’s Corner workshop, please visit the official event website:👉 https://eurotherm.udl.cat/\n
